There is so much more to mushrooms than creamy sauce; they’re low in kilojoules, nutrient-rich and have a meaty texture to satisfy the most ardent carnivores.
Whether gourmet oyster, portabellini or shiitake (naming just a few) – or the average button – there are a myriad delicious and healthy ways to serve mushrooms.
They’re thought to be an excellent source of B vitamins and minerals, such as immune-boosting selenium, phosphorous for tooth and bone formation and potassium for heart and kidney function.
They contain more protein than most vegetables, which, when combined with their filling, meaty texture, make a great vegetarian Tuesday moment.
